Usability Lab

The Usability Lab Project was a joint project by Bibliographisches Institut & F.A.Brockhaus (BIFAB), the University of Applied Sciences Cologne and me. With a Team of two Bachelor Students and one Master of Science Student, we conducted a complete usability testing of the internet search application duden.de.

A complete predictive and participative usability study with Persona creation, Persona Use Cases, Interviews, Cognitive Walkthrough, open and closed Questionnaires, 15 Test Users at 2 different places on 3 Days, DIN ISO 9241-10, Quis and AttrakDiff questionnaire found a lot of unknown facts about the web application, which surprised the management and responsible persons of duden.de. Our analysis made it possible for us to consult the BIFAB company and suggest new strategies according to their search applications purpose. We also provided a novel IxD prototype for a more effective, efficiant, intuitive and enjoyable use, to satisfy the customers of Germany number one dictionary publisher.
